A wonderful 19th-century chromolithograph after British-American artist Arthur Fitzwilliam Tait (1819–1905), depicting five young chicks nestled together in a woodland setting.
Published in 1866 by L. Prang & Co. of Boston, celebrated for its beautifully executed chromolithographs, the work retains Tait’s signature within the image. The warm, richly colored print is presented in an aged dark wood frame with a gilt liner, both showing lovely patina consistent with age.
A charming example of Tait’s highly collected animal imagery and a particularly appealing piece for a gallery wall.
