Victorian Hammered Copper Quart Haystack Jug

Handsome mid-19th-century English Victorian copper haystack jug, traditionally made as a one-quart liquid measure. The vessel features the characteristic haystack silhouette with a broad circular foot, tapered body, wide flared pouring lip, and substantial looping strap handle.

Beautifully hand-hammered throughout, the copper retains a rich, warm surface with wonderful variations in color and patina. Riveted handle attachments and traditional joined construction further reflect its handmade utilitarian origins. Haystack measures were historically used for measuring liquids such as ale and cider.
