English Biscuit Barrel with G.W Crest

Handsome antique biscuit barrel featuring a rich dark wood body accented with beaded detailing and EPNS (electroplated nickel silver) fittings. The barrel is finished with a swing handle, removable fitted lid with finial, and a shield-shaped cartouche beautifully engraved with the monogram “GW.”

The removable interior liner adds to the piece’s original functionality, while the warm aged wood and patinated metal give it wonderful character. Traditionally used for storing and serving biscuits at the tea table, it also makes a beautiful decorative vessel or unique addition to a collected bar or entertaining display.

Marked “EPNS” on the metal rim. Likely dating to the late Victorian or Edwardian period, circa 1890–1910.

Antique condition with surface wear, scratches, patina, and imperfections consistent with age and use.
