English Copper Quart Haystack Jug

Late 19th-century English copper haystack measure, crafted in the traditional tapered form with a broad circular foot, flared pouring lip, and substantial riveted strap handle. An applied brass plaque stamped “QUART” identifies the vessel as a one Imperial quart liquid measure.

The copper has developed a beautiful warm patina with darkened areas, oxidation, verdigris, surface marks, and evidence of old soldering consistent with age and utilitarian use. A handsome example of Victorian English copperware with wonderful character and decorative appeal.
