English Laundry Trunk

A wonderfully timeworn English wicker laundry trunk, constructed from handwoven willow over a sturdy frame. This generously sized trunk retains its original leather fastening straps and is full of authentic character from years of use.

The front is boldly hand-painted “LAUNDRY” in blue lettering, giving the piece a distinctive utilitarian charm and making it especially decorative. The hinged woven lid opens to reveal a spacious interior, while wooden reinforcing rails along the underside provide additional structure.

The wicker displays a beautifully aged natural patina with expected wear, breaks, and irregularities throughout, all consistent with its age and working history. The leather straps are also heavily aged. These imperfections add to the trunk's rustic appeal rather than detract from its character.

Originally used for transporting or storing laundry, today it would make an exceptional blanket chest, linen storage trunk, oversized basket, coffee table, or decorative piece in an English country, farmhouse, or collected interior.
