Details

This beautifully illustrated edition of The Pilgrim’s Progress presents John Bunyan’s enduring Christian allegory in an ornate late-19th / early-20th-century binding. The richly decorated cloth cover features gilt lettering and a detailed illustrated scene of Christian at the cross, framed by floral and foliate motifs—classic of devotional gift books from the period.

Illustrated by eminent artists of the time, this volume was clearly intended as a presentation copy, and retains its original gift inscription and bookplate dated January 1904, awarded by a Wesleyan Methodist Sunday School. Such inscriptions add historical and sentimental interest, grounding the book firmly in its Edwardian-era context.

An evocative and display-worthy piece for collectors of religious texts, antique illustrated books, or English devotional literature. Equally suited to a curated bookshelf, church library display, or period interior.
